Trump admin ends Medicaid funding for child ‘gender transitions’
The Trump HHS’ new rule bans federal Medicaid and CHIP funds for puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and transgender surgeries for minors, due to ‘serious risks’ and ‘irreversible harm.’

(LifeSiteNews) — Taxpayers will no longer be on the hook for procedures that chemically and surgically alter the bodies of gender-confused children.
The new rule prohibits Medicaid from funding procedures such as puberty blockers and surgical mutilation for gender-confused children. It similarly prohibits the procedures through the Children’s Health Insurance Program, another taxpayer-funded initiative for low-income kids. The regulation will be phased in, with some individuals allowed to continue receiving the procedures.
“Today, we are ending federal taxpayer funding for sex-rejecting procedures on children,” U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. announced on Tuesday. “These interventions carry serious risks and can cause irreversible harm. The federal government will no longer use Medicaid and CHIP dollars to fund procedures that fail to meet the evidentiary standard our children deserve.”
“Children deserve our protection, not experimental interventions that pose serious risks and convey no proven benefits,” Centers for Medicare and & Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz stated as well. “By cutting off federal funds for these sex-rejecting procedures, we’re following the science, saving taxpayer dollars, and, most importantly, protecting children from potentially irreversible harm so they can truly flourish.”
It is not possible for someone to change his or her sex, a fact confirmed by natural law and biology. The procedures are also linked to increased risk of infertility, bone density loss, and strokes, according to research.
Furthermore, credentialed medical experts have warned about the long-term consequences of experimental transgender drugs and procedures, as documented by LifeSiteNews.
The news drew praised from the American Principles Project, which advocates for family values.
“President Trump has finally shut down the flow of Medicaid money into child gender transitions, and it’s about time someone in Washington put kids and families first,” Terry Schilling stated in comments sent to LifeSiteNews.
“No hardworking American should be forced to bankroll irreversible hormones and surgeries that carve up healthy young bodies under the banner of a radical ideology,” Schilling stated.
Meanwhile, the left-wing, pro-LGBT Human Rights Campaign claimed that “the receipt of gender-affirming care can significantly improve the lives of people who receive it.”

However, while proponents of the procedures claim that the procedures improve the mental health and well-being of gender-confused beings, studies on the subject have faced scrutiny from independent experts.
