COBH, Ireland (LifeSiteNews) — Bishop Athanasius Schneider, auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Saint Mary in Astana, Kazakhstan, is urging the faithful to be “100 percent Catholic” in our modern times.

Bishop Schneider, in an August 3 address to the Catholic Voice conference at the Cobh Benedictine Convent in Ireland, recalled growing up in the Soviet Union and how the faithful had to cling to the entire Catholic faith to endure the brutal Communist persecution.

Comparing those times to the current state of the Church, the bishop encouraged attendees to hold to “100 percent” of the faith.

“The greatest gift that we have is the faith, the Catholic faith… the true Catholic faith. So we have to be 100 percent Catholic, not 50 percent Catholic or 80 percent, but 100 percent. This is the divine faith,” Schneider said. “Jesus said in the Gospel, ‘Even if someone will take away the smallest law… he will be considered the smallest in the Kingdom of God.”
