First off vaccines are not mentioned in the Bible they didnt exist. Rome lost an army to small pox. Yes the whole army died. During the revulutinary wr a slave showed them how to make a crude vaccine and it saved both armies, plus it saved a lot of Americans. People who got small pox died, if the survived they were pock marked and some never got over it. During the American civil war half of the dead were from diseases that we now have vaccines for. The spanish flu outbreak in 1919 killed more people than the bloody war did.
These diseases come with a price. Yes you get over some with no after effects. They all come with suffering, death and crippling. There are people who keep them for life. My mom was in afred e dupont hospital she saw polio she saw what was a heath person become crippled or ended up in an iron lung. Do you really want to risk it?
